Installing SOFIA

The SOFIA Open Framework integrates best of breed products from several different sources. This version has been tested on Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000 using The JDK 1.3 and IntelliJ IDEA 2.6, JDK 1.4 and IntelliJ IDEA 3.0 or Eclipse, Dreamweaver 4 or Dreamweaver MX. So in order to use SOFIA to its fullest, you will need to download products from several different vendors. See below for more details.

JDK 1.4.1 from Sun

SOFIA requires the Java Development
Kit version 1.4.1. Make sure to download the full
SDK (System Development Kit) and not just the
JRE (Java Runtime environment).

IDEA from Intelli-J
|
| |
Intelli-J provides a low-cost fully functional Java IDE.
This is our current best-of-breed selection, and will provide you
with a Java development environment to do your projects. You will
also need an evaluation license to run the software.

offer custom palettes that enable you to drag-and-drop our custom

SOFIA Open Framework

The SOFIA install program provides all the rest of the software you will need, and will also
integrate the other components you have already installed. SOFIA is available for download
from sourceforge.net.
